Stained Glass Residency

Stained Glass Residencies

RDW Glass are delighted to announce their next and first Glasgow-based Stained Glass Residency, taking place over 3 weeks in September 2026.  Date: Monday 7th of September to Monday 21st of September 2026 (3 weeks - weekends off)

This unique opportunity, led by glass artists Keira Mclean and Rich Welsh, invites artists of all backgrounds to explore the medium of stained, leaded, etched and foiled glass. Located in the East End of Glasgow, the residency offers a nurturing environment in a working glass studio to develop your skills, collaborate with fellow artists and contribute to the city's storied tradition of glass craftsmanship. The residency covers all aspects of a working studio from design, painting, leading and soldering, repair and restoration, copper foiling and creating a collaborative stained glass window.

We want to build community with other artists like us and add to the rich and diverse landscape of stained glass.

Price: £1,500 (This price includes a £500 deposit to be paid to secure your place).

Please note: While accommodation is not provided, we can recommend excellent places to stay in the area. Artists based in Scotland can commute to our studio.

To apply, please send an email stating your interest along with a CV or digital biography to caireen@rdwglass.com, using the subject line RDW Glass Residency.

The application deadline is Saturday 30th of May 2026 at 10am.

Stained Glass Artist Residency

Poetry of The Nith. Part of Sanquhar Arts Festival 2025. The third stained glass residency held at the Merz Gallery in Sanquhar and our studios in Glasgow. Celebrating the poetry of the Nith Valley, Dumfries. Robert Burns, Alexander Anderson, William Dagleish, Cushie Knowe.

"Collage is a great way of designing a collaborative window. Using our research and group chats I start collaging motifs, images and text, the group then responds to my initial blueprint and we continue this back and forth until the window is finished. It’s an exciting process as the window slowly reveals itself! I really like working this way." "But we also chat about being self employed, tax, social media, dealing with clients, the funding landscape. It is pretty immersive!"- Keira
